PS3 DAInq horrible crashes... Anyone else? Any ideas?

Hi all, been having ongoing game and then full system crashes during gameplay, during saves and particularly following / during character inventory updates (armour, weapons etc.). Is this a known issue? Is there anything I can do to minimise this? I'm saving in multiple slots (1 full game file lost/disappeared! recently too). Characters don't look brilliantly rendered either which is odd and scenery is often taking a long time to load. I love this game (loooove them all!) but it feels like this was designed for PS4 and not tailored well to PS3 (my feeling due to the overall problems, I have no idea if this is true).
Any advice or follow up would be appreciated. Love DA and MA but the world may be overcome by evil if I can't get full IT support for the Inquisition forces ;o)
