Question on Romance with Josephine

Kind of an awkward question, but I'm hoping someone will be able to answer me. I recently managed to initiate a romance with Cassandra, only to be met with a scene that I... wasn't really comfortable with, and didn't have any control over. One thing I really enjoyed about Dragon Age: Origins is that I was able to complete a character romance without being *forced* to do anything "inappropriate", if you catch my meaning.

I've gone back to an old save, where you're able to initiate a romance with Josephine. That one starts with nothing more than a kiss, and doing her family crest side quest didn't result in any funny business either.

The thing is, this old save is from like 30 hours back. I had made good progress, been really happy with the cool gear I'd found for my characters, spent time getting the materials to improve Skyhold the way I liked - you know how it is. I don't want to replay those 30 hours of gameplay if it ends the same way.

So can someone give me an assurance that if there is anything inappropriate with Josephine, it's totally optional? Thanks.

  • You are safe, Josephine is one of the PG endings for romance.

Not sure what you expected to happen at the end of a romance in a Mature rated game, but you shouldn't have an issue with Josie..

  • It was strictly optional in DA: O, and I don't really play a lot of M-rated games. Did you know you don't even have to kiss Leliana to finish her plotline? I thought that was pretty neat.

But thanks so much for getting back to me. 🙂 Now to motivate myself to redo 30 hours' worth of gameplay... and hope I get lucky enough to find multiples of just the gear I was looking for, all over again. >_>

Got to say, if you managed to make it through the scene at the, I guess Grotto is best term, with Cassandra then that is the last time you will run into anything that would make you uncomfortable in that romance.  Each character gets a "ending romance scene" that can be from PG to R depending on the character, and in Solas' case, kinda heartbreaking/infuriating.

  • Psh, Solas is an apostate who sympathizes with Fade spirits.

...Who just got me a pretty cool castle, so I guess I should stop antagonizing him. But that doesn't mean I have to like him. ;P

(Thanks again - this is really helpful info!)

No, it doesn't.  I don't like him much either.  I think Sera has a much better perspective on "our people".  :eahigh_file:
