Re: Awakening DLC Won't Download

I have downloaded Dragon age origins and the rest of the DLC's for the game just fine through the EA app, but every time I try and Install the Awakening DLC it pops up and error message at 21%. I have tried every fix, reinstall, cache clearing and mod managing thing I could fine but no matter what the DLC wont download.

I am having the same issue, and so is my son.  I worked through EA chat support for almost an hour, with no clear solution. I'll try to attach here the txt of that conversation.

  • its truly infuriating to see company's change program's for whatever reason an have to have players either search and scour the internet for solutions or to dump it on their customer support people with little to no options on how to fix their buggy mess, all they can do is spit and throw old paint and see what sticks. if the first response to a problem on your app is to go to another company to fix it, that a massive issue.

Hello, everyone. I have merged some posts into this thread. Please see the accepted solution for a possible fix. Thank you.

  • Thank you, EA_Aljo, for having attention on this, and merging the posts.

Since we have your eyes on this let me ask about the accepted solution, from last August.
Seems there are two parts to it: one to make sure the AddIns.xml is consistent in two places; the other seems out of control of we the end users, if the suspicion about the dlc files on the server is accurate (removed, or moved).

On the XML piece, my user documents location is not the same path; as a OneDrive user the actual path is "C:\Users\<USERNAME>\OneDrive\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\Settings\", and not the posted "C:\Users\USERNAME\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age\Settings\".

To test, I did create the solution's path and dropped a copy of the AddIns.xml file there, but the results are the same: The download of Awakenings stops at 21% with no actual files created. All three locations (game install folder, actual documents folder, and dummy-path documents folder) have the same AddIns.xml file, and the Awakenings DLC is listed at the top of the AddIns.

When I did a fresh install the base game installed fine. The AddIns folder is not created. I tried to download Awakenings, and the error occurs; no AddIns folder created.  When I install any other DLC (Leliana'sSong, for example) it does install, and the AddIns folder gets created.  I did try to manually create the dlc landing folder in the AddIns folder for Awakenings, and drop in a manually created Manifest.xml. That does make the game think the DLC is installed, but when I try to select it, the game says the files are missing (obviously, because they are, because none of this makes the download complete). Doing a repair will error on Awakenings, but all other DLC will install fine (even ones that have Awakenings as a pre-req, which I find curious).

All that to ask, is there an alternate path where we can obtain the DAZip file for Awakenings, and use the DAUpdater to install?
Final question.  I see an option to pay for the game in the EA app - $8 I think. Will paying for the game have any impact on this issue?
    Thanks!

  • Unfortunately, that possible solution appears to have nothing to do with this new problem.

I'm having an error suck at 21% on a new install on a new computer.

    How do I fix this?

  • Same problem here, Awakening install just stuck at 21%. Received a generic answer from game support. I realize this is an old game, but how hard can it be for EA to properly arrange their install files on their servers?

I have the same issue with installing Awakening on the EA App. I uninstalled the Dragon Age: Origins that was originally downloaded from Origin last week. I noticed that when I uninstalled the game it uninstalled everything except dao_prc_ep_1 which was still in the folder.

Hey, everyone. Try deleting the all DLC. Then, change the permission of the install folder to admin and try installing again. If that doesn't work, try resetting your host file. You can also try a DNS flus and power cycle of your modem/router.

  • It's definitely an issue with the EA App. I think perhaps whatever server or file the EA App tries to download the file from is either busted or the file is not there.

I seem to have gotten the game to install Awakening through Origin. It actually downloaded something while redirecting me to the EA App.

Same problem here . Awakening DLC is stuck at 21%.

    Please help us.

  • Unfortunately the problem still persists, Awakening is stuck at 21%. Anyway to confirm if the problem is on the EA server end?

  • Seems there will be no awakening any time soon. Same issue here. Stuck at 21%. All other DLC downloads and is working in game.
