Re: Can someone give me their .ini file?

If you have a working game, just zip this entire folder and send it to me C:\Users\*YourUserName*\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age Inquisition\

(that's where it is if you installed through origin - it would be somewhere else if you used steam or something)

Also, (if you feel like it) If you could first  change all your graphics to the lowest possible in game settings, that'd be cool too.

And if you do NOT, I think we might have culprit... Will have to try myself though.

Apparently not a single person on this forum has a game that can load to the title screen? Someone PLEASE. You don't even need to know what you're doing.

  • Just a note you will want to use something the respects line breaks like notepad++

So you didn't see the .ini file either? The game really creates a few of them, however, between every sucesfull launch it keeps deleting them in some configurations, preventing the player to load it again. I was able to confirm that they do exist while I play by opening the folder imediately after entering the menu for the first (working) time.

Their non-existence causes crashing in the subsequent attempt to run the game. Only remedy seems to be to do a re-install every time you try to run it.

@BIO-AdmiralX: It's true that the original file has a unix end-of-line style (I suppose that's what you mean). But CR+LF is accepted too, so no worries about that.

  • The ProfileOptions_profile is the "ini" file.

After you go into the options screen the file should stay there

I have no .ini file here, this is the Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age Inquisition\Save directory contents:

    DAISAVEAUTO9B45887A.DAS
    DAISAVECHAP503A2AF5.DAS
    DAISAVECHAP9B45887A.DAS
    DAISAVETIME503A2AF5.DAS
    DAISAVETIME9B45887A.DAS
    DAISAVEU001503A2AF5.DAS
    DAISAVEU0019B45887A.DAS
    DAISAVEU0029B45887A.DAS
    DAISAVEU0039B45887A.DAS
    ProfileOptions
    ProfileOptions_profile

Even by looking when the game is running, the contents remains the same, the two last files are updated when quitting the game. The other files are obviously saved games.

And this is the only directory (aside from Screenshots) in your DA:I documents? Strange... I recall having a few more files in there. Then again, I can run the game only once after every install, so I am mostly trying to piece where there could be error... And I supposed that there really should be some .ini files, as the thread author confirmed seeing them, as far as I recall...

There is a Screenshots directory, for now it's empty and it doesn't look relevant. I've looked at all the places I could think of, but nothing else looked like a configuration file.

You could try the chat support if you haven't already, though I don't expect any help there unfortunately, their team seems clueless about everything and at best they are just rude.

Yeah, my mistake. I must have had some balast there. I have tried launching the game and quitting it and was unable to find any .ini files. My sincere appology. I think the .profile file is the equivalent.

Any luck replacing the profile file?

Not sure if that's of any help, but it's also possible to launch the game with command-line arguments. If you check the game information in the Origin client, you can see "Game Properties" in blue next to the game cover (in the Details tab, under "Actions"). You can probably add any of the parameters from this profile file, should they fail to set properly otherwise. Check this link for an example (it's on the FPS settings, but from the look of it, that could be used for the display settings) :
