Re: Can't change graphic or resolution settings in DAI after reinstallation

The shiny hair sounds like what it was like before one of the early patches, it was terrible. 😛 Have you turned off automatic patching in Origin (which is usually a good idea if you use mods)? Tried checking if there are any updates available for Inquisition? Also, if you were using mods before and aren't now, that might be the reason you're noticing the difference in hair and face textures (as the modded ones tend to be... more pretty than vanilla. 😛 )

Might help to post your dxdiag, never know what might be relevant.

The shiny hair is still in the game when shader quality is set to low. The patch you refer to separated shader quality from mesh quality (they were bundled together), and one patch once messed up the game so shader quality was always set to low, but that's fixed now.

After you change any graphics settings in-game, you should check if the config file has actually been updated by looking at the time stamp. This file is called 'ProfileOptions_profile' and is located in the save folder (Documents - BioWare - Dragon Age Inquisition - Save). If the file hasn't been updated, you have to check if your save folder isn't set to 'read only', in which case your game settings can't be saved from within the game. You may also want to try editing the config file manually by changing some settings in text file and see if this has any effect on the game.

Wasn't using any mods for the game, except the command line that lets you keep cutscenes at 60 fps. I did have automatic updates turned on, so I turned them off.

Checked the save folder and it was set to read only so I undid that. I don't understand how to read options in this profile. For example ShaderQuality 3GstRender, does this mean it's set to high or ultra. My in game settings or maxed out for now.

Alright, I figured it out. After setting the save profile folder off of read only from the properties menu, I did a repair install and it fixed everything. I guess when I was tooling around with the settings before, for some reason I must have change that one profile. Thanks, I really appreciate the help!
