Re: DA:I Tries to launch but won't

Avast was never a problem before and it doesn't affect my other games. I also make sure that Avast recognizes all my games and goes around them without affecting gameplay. I was literally playing DA:I with it on before the update. ME 3 is also working fine. I also went over my Avast settings after the update and added DA:I and Origin to the allowed settings. I even made sure Windows Defender allowed them. I have 13 games on Origin and DA:I is the only one affected. So basically, I am not 100% sure Avast is the culprit.

  • @MisfitLynx;  I understand that you "never had this problem before" with other games, even other EA/BioWare games.  But the symptoms you're describing match exactly with the Avast/AVG false-positive flagging of DAI as malware that many, many players have reported.

Correctly adding all the required exceptions to allow DAI to function properly can be done, but it can be complicated and tedious.  And every update to the game, or Windows itself, causes the problem to resurface.

So before going down that path, or claiming that you've "already done all that", just try my advice.

Uninstall Avast and see.  If you still have the exact same behaviour, then obviously that wasn't the issue and you can re-install it and try something else.

Sorry it took so long to come back here and reply. I have history with hitting my head against a wall with you guys. As an example: Mass Effect 3 Leviathan DLC. There was some reason it wasn't playing but instead freezing my game and requiring a hard reboot of my laptop. I had gone around in circles with you guys for days and repeated myself 4 or five times with different people in the help chat and nothing came of it. I found the fix on YouTube and it was severely simple. I had two graphics cards on my laptop and they were competing to run the DLC.

So please forgive me for not exactly trusting you. It was Avast. However, Anti-viruses can be expenses and I am not rich and have to count every penny so unless you can also recommend a good free Anti-virus I am going to have to re-install Avast anyway.
