Re: dragon age awakening isnt working

I don't know why the topic I opened has been locked. Anyway, I figured out on my own how to sort this out. My problem was already mentioned on other forums. Seems like the installer goes nuts sometimes and actually isn't working properly. I succeeded by following the upcoming suggestions:

Open up your Dragon Age game folder.

Open addins, then dao_prc_ep_1 under there.

Right-click Edit the manifest.xml file.

Select from the <AddInItem line all the way down to and including the </AddInItem> line (this is almost the entire contents of the file).

Copy it to the clipboard.

Open your My Documents folder.

Open up BioWare, Dragon Age, Settings.

Right-click Edit the AddIns.xml file.

Go right to the bottom of this file, and immediately before the final </AddInList> tag (ie. right after the last </AddInItem> tag, paste the text you copied earlier.

Save and close everything, then run the game. Awakening should appear properly now.

Hope this helps you too! I can't see why they don't repair the installer for such an important game. Probably still the best one avaliable on Origin. Unexplainable!!!

MR.ROSSOCUORE YOU'RE THE GOD!!! IT WORKED SORRY FOR CAPS BUT IT WORKED!!!!!!

Finally after waiting for EA email with reply about my problemalmost 1 week  i found your post here and unocked the Awakening with full content :D

Mate i love you soooo much for this ;D

  • Looks like Awakening downloaded via Origin missing voice and facial animation files. I had same exact problem with DA2 Legacy DLC. It was resolved by downloading that DLC from https://social.bioware.com/user_entitlements.php , but there is no Awakening DLC there. Where can I download proper Awakening?

p.s. My DA: O is English (don't know why, it is supposed to be Russian), DA: O-Awakening is probably Russian, DA2 is Russian subtitles only.
p.p.s. BioWare, I hate you so much!

    Hi rossocuore

I followed your instructions and now I need more help.  Far from allowing Awakenings to work I have lost all my downloaded content. Everything from Awakenings to Wardens Keep has uninstalled and wants me to buy it again. What do I do now? I have already tried deleting what I pasted in but no joy.

    Help me please 😕mileyfrustrated:

Have any of the people having problems contacted an EA Game Advisor for assistance?

The AHQ is a "player-to-player" forum. No one is under any obligation to respond, and none of the suggestions are "official".

The Game Advisors are reached through the Help Center, (link in the top-right if every page.)
NOTE: You will get to a point where you have an option labeled "Ask Now". That brings you back here to the AHQ. So DON'T pick that one!

Awakenings won't play. I tried to utilise your tips. Now my other campaign icon is greyed out and all my installed content is unistalled and when re-intalling comes up with install failed messages. My mods also will not install coming up with an error message. I have tried restoring my computer firstly to the 27 of May and then to the 15 of May but it is still not working.

Now, however if I try to start a new game in Origins itself the computer goes back to the desktop with a close program window. I am agorophobic and I need this game to keep me from going spare. Please, please help me.

Again, (and again, and again... <sigh>)

Yeah I tried that just now. Was talking. Waited ten minutes for a response. Stepped away for a minute. Literally a minute. Came back to see the advisor had asked a question, then said "I see you're away from keyboard". went to type a response, then they sent a "I haven't got a response for a long time I'm disconnecting message".

And now there are no advisors available. And this was after I waited 30 minutes to talk to one in the first place. It's pathetic service and I'm tired of them breaking Origins. Not even the first time they've broken this game for me. All my DLC wasn't recognized in game last time I tried to play it and I had to spend hours on the phone and go through multiple attempts to get it fixed.

And now Awakening isn't working, listed as something to purchase under Dragon Age: Origins. They break stuff that was working before and then provide crappy customer service when I try to spend my time to fix my game that they broke.
