Re: Gamepad support broken

Thanks, st_sgibbs. I wonder, do you have any extra USB devices attached other than your mouse, keyboard and pad receiver? If so, can you remove anything unnecessary and try again?

Okay, I found a solution. I unplugged my keyboard before starting the game and I can confirm both controllers are able to work now. It appears that when digging into my devices manager list, I noticed that both my keyboard and controller was listed under installed game controllers list.  Just setting the xbox controllers as the preferred device didn't solve the issue. Clicking on the properties of the keyboard shows the following:

Device Type: Human Interface Devices

Manufactor: Razer

Location: Location 1 (Razer Joystick)

This is the first game I've had trouble with my keyboard somehow causing the issue thinking I have a joystick plugged in when I don't even own one and it overrides the 360 and xbox one controller despite those being the preferred on HID compliant game controllers.

Excellent! This will be really helpful going forward.

    Thank you for the update.

@newschmoo Yep, that value is the toggle for the KBM/pad switch in options. It's odd if you weren't getting the option/it wasn't sticking for you, but it's good that you found a workaround.

Okay, I'm having the same controller issues and unplugging the keyboard from my PC doesn't help. I went to check the Profile Options document, and  GstInput.Gamepad is set to 1. Yet the controller doesn't work. Help?

Originally, I went into the game and switched the control-scheme over from mouse and keyboard to gampead, and while the options are shown, I can't actually click or select anything, making the game unplayable at the moment.

If you set GstInput.GamePad back to 0 you should be able to use KBM again. This doesn't solve the gamepad issue but at least lets you play. If you check your device manager, does anything show up under Sound, Video and Game Controllers that shouldn't? What type of pad are you using?

Okay, tried it and it works. Not ideal, but it is better than nothing. 🙂

As far as the Device Manager goes, nothing is out of the ordinary. I just lauched Skyrim and a few other games with controller support to see if my controller was working and it's just fine. I'm not quite sure why it isn't working with Inquisition.

EDIT: Oh, and I'm using a wired xbox 360 controller.

None of these fixes for the gamepad are working for me. Nothing else is listed as a controller in the control panel, (I also have a razer naga and razer blackwidow) and toggling the value for the KBM/gamepad isn't helping either. I have a wired 360 controller that works just fine when I play Skyrim. Is there a patch for this on the way?
