Re: Graphics bug mangling hands

Is this under Mantle or DirectX and, does it happen if you use the other?

Mantle is a system like DirectX that tells the computer how to handle graphics data.  It is available to be used on later AMD graphics cards and can result in better performance when it is available for use...and sometimes it causes issues to.  The Frostbite system that DAI is built off of, uses mantle and thus since you have an AMD card you should have the option in display settings iirc to change from DirectX to Mantle.

Mantle is a new API by AMD (Radeon) it does the same thing as DirectX but, it's designed for AMD GPUs. There are not many games that can use Mantle yet but, DAI is one of them and, some users have great success with it and AMD GPUs. Might want to give it a try.

  • Thanks, guys.

Switching to Mantle did not change anything.  Hand still mangled.

  • More testing:

    - Switching the arms to a few different suits of light armor didn't fix it.

    - Other arms constructed before or since do not have this problem

    Still looking for a solution.

When we are discussing GAME graphics, a four month old driver is ANCIENT (AMD is way behind), but you should at least have the 14.12 version, and DxDiag's inability to identify WHICH R9 card you have is regrettable.  There are AT LEAST eight different ones:

    270, 270x, 280, 280x, 285, 290, 290x, 295X2

    ---------------
    Display Devices
    ---------------
Card name: AMD Radeon R9 200 Series
           Manufacturer: Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.
Chip type: AMD Radeon Graphics Processor (0x6811)
       Driver Attributes: Final Retail
       Driver Date/Size: 11/20/2014 19:44:20, 1348928 bytes
            WHQL Logo'd: n/a

Maybe their excuse is that the R9 300s aren't quite ready after all?

  • Well, equally regrettably, I'm not in charge of AMD's driver release schedule.  The "AMD  Gaming Evolved" app tells e that my  AMD Catalyst driver (14.12) is up to date and was last checked this morning at 06:36:48 PDT.

So, if the inference of ancientness is that I should update my driver, that's a no-op.

Device Manager only shows R9 200 also.  Fortunately, I still have my quote for the card, which says:

    ASUS R9270-DC2OC-2GD5 Radeon R9 270 2GB 256-Bit GDDR5 PCI Express 3.0 HDCP Ready CrossFireX Support Video Card

    Does that help?
