are you using a wireless keyboard by chance?
fresh batteries?
nothing between the kybd and the usb dongle for it?
(specially anything metal, or wireless devices using 2.4GHz signal)
cell phone, cordless phone, ipad, iphone, android devices?
- Anonymous11 years agoNope I use my notebook and when I press ~ I can't close it so I must Alt+F4 all the time...so frustrating

hmm... have you cleaned your kybd lately?
no crumbs, ashes, tobacco, food, or other foreign material under the ~key?
dust buster vac, or canned air might do the trick if there is.
have you ever had any overheating issues?
do you have a laptop cooler under it?
(just wild specualtions, but you never know)
another thing you can try, but be very, very gentle when you do...
pop that key out, and clean under it. use a cotton swab (q-tip).
use a clean cotton swab (q-tip) to press the pad underneath, and see if the key is working, in a program like notepad.
if it is working in notepad, put the key back in, and try it in game.
I do this every few months, because I practically live at my computer,
and my kybs always get gunked up. even my laptop.
Hello,
The console key on english keyboard is ', hungarian 0, so you accidentally hit, when use 1 or Q. Open the console: press ', close console: press ' again.
Hope you find it also.I have totally disabled the tilde key and the console still opens during battles, mostly with dragons. I was never able to close the console even when I had the tilde enabled. I have found no way to close the console without ending task on the whole game.
Having the ability to disable the console is what is needed!
The "console key" is a toggle.
The same one that opens it, closes it. Always.
If you've already pressed any other "standard" key(s) after invoking it, you'll have to press [Enter] to close out the command (which will probably just be nonsense characters) before you can press the console key again to toggle it off.

Considering how my answer is not in here just gone say it was ^ (for germany/EU?) you might need to double tab it... also it might delay the opening of the console to your next input which would explain the confusion about the trigger button
