This for me, is about the most stupidest quest in the whole game so far!! :-(

I see you haven't met Druffy yet.

@Fred_vdp

Yes, that's correct. Looks like I haven't met this, so called Druffy yet. So pray tell..... who is he, where do I find him at, and why is he significant to this horse race quest that I have so much damned trouble with!? ☹️

Druffy is not related to the horse quest, but it's a contender for most stupid quest in the whole game. It's called Where the Druffalo Roam and you have to escort a druffalo back into its pen. It's mind-numbingly stupid and annoying to boot, because Druffy is insanely slow, takes breaks to drink water now and then, and you have to lead it past a fade rift that's a much higher level than anything else in the area.

They even parodied escort missions like this one in The Witcher 3, where at one point you have to use a bell to guide a goat back to her owner. The goat occasionally takes breaks to eat berries and then wanders off into a bear's lair.

    Hi @MissTuliptus,

In all honesty, "In the saddle" is just a tutorial quest so I wouldn't bother that much if you cannot complete the race. You don't have to complete it to progress further. And most likely you will never complete all the quests in the game, so no worries. 😉 (and I say that as a super ultra completionist )

Regarding the controller, I play on PC with a wired Xbox One controller and it works really well. It's just a standard USB so no need for a fancy adapter.

    Hope that helps.

I've never played the Witcher series, but yes, I do remember playing through the mind numbingly slow druffalo quest for this game now.

I did find it a bit annoying at the time when I did it too. There were times when it stopped to do god knows what, and the silly creature wouldn't follow me for a certain amount of time. :-/

I was a little bit worried when I got near the Rift with it, as I thought it might run off towards the rift creatures there. (getting itself killed in the process)

But thankfully it didn't. I did manage to complete that one eventually.🙂

Thank you all, for the helpful replies.🙂

All in all, looks like I have actually managed to answer my own problem here, as I was able to complete this whole race quest eventually.

The problem I had, was that I felt that the camera movement panning left and right, was faster than the actual left and right movement of the actual horse, and this made it confusing to see which direction I was taking the horse in, particularly when I had to go round corners. (not to mention, quite frustrating to say the least :-/)

I eventually thought to look this up in the "Options Menu" and I adjusted the camera movement speed from there.

This made the "In The Saddle Quest" more easier for me to complete after that.

I was a tad disappointed that you don't get any reward for completing it. I was half expecting to be given 1 of 2 things, either some level experience, or a Power Point for use at the War Table.

Nonetheless, I was still glad that I had completed it, because it gave me a sense of overcoming something with some perseverance and feeling good about it.

Also, I have now been using the horse a bit more on the ingame landscapes in general, as I am now a bit more used to riding the horse ingame.🙂

Glad to hear changing the settings helped @MissTuliptus (See, as I said that quest isn't the most important :P)

My suggestion would be going though the main quest to unlock new zones and go back and forth between zones. Trying to complete the Hinterlands can be tedious so it's more fun pick-and-mix quests from all over Thedas to level up rather than doing it zone by zone.

Let us know if you need further information.

  • @EA_Zoe Thanks a lot for the extra advice there.🙂

I've noticed ingame that it can be a bit tricky trying to complete every single quest in each zone. (particularly some collection quests: cages for requisitions for e.g. are a bit hard to come by after a while) So you're probably right by saying about pick and choose different quests all over Thedas.

Also, a bit on the embarrassing side for me to say, but I kinda didn't know the name of the D.A. world was called "Thedas."  (especially since I've reached level 13 already) Oops, Sorry. Hehe....😳

I know that now..... don't I? Thanks for letting me know. 😳 🙂

Fun fact: Thedas is short for The Dragon Age Setting.
