I had the same issue. Upon returing from the second race and heading back to the stables I dismounted from the horse as it was still at a galop and it glitched. Now when I speak to the girl to set up the last race she tells me the race is already set up. I problem is the horse with the sadle has disapeared and I can't finish the race. I had to reload a previos save (mind you about an hours worth of work) and once I did that problem was solved. Just a minor issue.

I figured this one out on my own. The problem you have is that you are stuck on the Master of Horses quest correct?
If so, go back to Haven, go to the stables located next to the Black Smith where you craft armor and weapons.
Selected the First HORSE, the Ferelden something rather, once it has the checkmark beside it, leave the menu and return to the quest for Master of Horses and presto it should be there.
If you do this and you experience a black screen cause the horse you picked was invisible upon return, simply select a horse from a different category, leave the menu, once the horse appears reselect the stable and do what I said above, this should make the first basic horse appear and loop the problem.

Same issue here. Solution provided does not help. Clicking on the stable in Haven brings up the mount menu, but mount cannot be slected. Screen goes to black, loading icon appears, then after 2-3 minutes screen returns to normal and still no mount.
Cannot complete the Master of Horses quest as it stands.not totally solved. when i got to the stable and selected the horse, everything went black. i could only see the names of the characters around or blind click the stables again. the game is on, i can hear my inquisitor moving etc, but i cant see anything.
