Re: PC Version Inquisition compatibility with Xbox one controller

it seems this may have been a software conflict I closed the number of background programs including pinnacle Game Profiler which is a keyboard to game controller mapping software, razer cortex and Razer synapse which is for my Razer mouse.

Lo and behold the gamepad was detected the next time I went into the game. So one of those programs is likely the culprit I have not yet disable them one by one to see which it is. I would guess it is probably pinnacle has that does gamepad ambulation and so may have been causing an issue. However it was disabled so it should not have had any sort of active profile when I was in the game.

    @Darthus

From testing with some of the Heroes on AHQ, it seems that Razer peripherals may be responsible for your controller not being detected.

The Hero who checked this for us ( @ragnarok013  ) also had a Razer mouse afaik, but that didn't cause problems. 🙂

I'm working fine w/ a Razer mouse now and gamepad working, just can't have my Nostromo plugged in.

EA now that we have identified the culprit, I'm sure you guys are working on a patch? 😉

    I'm having a similar issue.

    Windows 8.1 x64

    AMD HD 6950

    XBox 360 wired controller.

I use a bluetooth keyboard and regular wireless mouse by logitech. I don't have any other usb devices or controllers. When I switch to controller, I noticed (after much confusion) that only certain buttons worked. Apparently the button mapping is fubar. The "start" button on the controller, for example, is mapped to "B". The "RB" button is mapped to "A". The left stick is actually mapped to the right stick and controls the camera, but the left stick click button works properly (it took me to the keep website). I confirmed this because I managed to start a saved game after realizing that the game is detecting the controller, but just mapping it all weird. Most buttons don't do anything.

I have tried reinstalling the game, the drivers, re-calibrating, and I tested it with two separate controllers which both exhibit the same result. It works fine in other games, I've been using it my PC games for a long time now.

I found a solution in another forum from another game. It seems that nostromo (Razer or Belkin) have some sofware issues with some games.

In my case it didn't work with just unpluggin the device, but with this:

The Nostromo DOES conflict with the 360 controller, but it's a pretty easy fix.

Nostromo installs a Virtual HID device which it doesn't need to operate, and that's what messes everything up.
Log in on an admin account and go into the control panel.
    Bring up Device Manager.
Go to the USB Devices or whatever it's called section. (in my case was Gamepads and controllers)
Right click on the virtual HID device(s) and disable it(them).
    Bam, everything works.

Now i Can play it without any trouble!

I hope this works for other gamers as well!

  • I tried disabling the HID's in the Device manager, I've moved the Xbox 360 Controller (for PC) from a USB3 to a normal USB, as well as turned off Synapse 2.0, and unplugged my Nostromo.. nothing seems to be working. The game isn't even recognizing my controller. I use this all the time for Steam and Origin games and it's worked flawlessly for every game except this one. I can't stand the KB&M controlls.. feels so clunky.

Does anyone have any other suggestions?

I have a nostromo, and that solution worked for me! Thank you so much!

I had the same issue with my Xbox 360 controller. I disable the Nostronomo controller and worked nice for me.

  • Just wanna chime in here with my own experience.  I decided on a whim, just 10 or 15 minutes ago, to see if my Xbox One controller would work with DA:I.  At first, it didn't.  I then tried my wireless Xbox 360 controller, which I've used together with my computer for probably 6 or 7 years.  That also didn't work, at first.  Game didn't respond to controller input at all.

After reading this thread, I decided to unplug my Logitech G13 and then restart my computer.  With the G13 unplugged, DA:I now responds to input from my Xbox One controller.  So, like other people have reported in this thread, there does seem to be an issue with the game getting a little confused if there are certain other gaming peripherals connected to the computer along with the Xbox controller.  I will say that, in the 3 or 4 years I've had the Logitech G13, DA:I is the first game that required me to unplug the G13 in order for the controller to work properly.  I hope the devs get this sorted out 😉

I got the same isue with the Razer Orbweaver. If the keypad is plugged in the xbox 360 controller won't work. Please solve this isue. Going behind my desk to unplug the keypad to play a game isn't a solution.

BTW please add support to use both keyboard and controller at the same time.

Edit: I found a work around. Thanks to previous poster posting about disabling a hid device. Mine where completly different. I am using windows 7 x64.

Go to device manager -> Human Interface Devices

In my situation there are 2 "HID-Compliant game controller". One is the keypad and the other one is the controller. When I disabled the right one, the controller works in the game.

Zuperpro, thanks so MUCH! Deleting the Virtual HID in Device Manger under Human Interface Devices was what did the trick for me after EVERYTHING else I tried didn't seem to have an effect.

If you are still having issues, take this suggestion (I also deleted all save game files and profile files, disabled cloud storage, made sure my Nostromo was disconnected, etc. so be sure to get the everything else taken care of too!)
