Push the left thumbstick down and it will pulse. You may need to do it a few times for it to appear when you are in range (as it's seemingly intended). I did this quest with keyboard/mouse however I have since started to use an XBox One controller and have had other "find" objectives which required me to push the left thumbstick down to scan the area.
Thank you so much! I have been on the phone for two days with XBOX and EA staff and no one seemed to know what I was talking about. The directions did not seem to be very clear to me (obviously) that are given on screen and the youtube video doesn't have audio and you can see it but not know how it is being done. I finally found it at Calahad's Foothold as it is another search that doesn't appear without it. Now.... back for Sera and Tagan's notes! Thanks to everyone that responded here. So simple once you understand to use the Left THUMBSTICK.
Now as for the Freinds of Red Jenny quet I'll agree it is broken. as I can get the first two things to the quest one being a key bt the 3 which is on upper part of the market to where you can't get access to it at all. I see the quest active Icon but there is no way to gain access to where that part of the market. None that I've found at least.
As for the 4 Greay Wardens notes I had no problems finding and reading them at all. Just remember tro use the Searcxh button which is the "v" key on the pc. As for console your on your own there as I don't use the console.
Are you saying you were in fact able to completed this quest? If so how. As I got the first two or three but there is one in the upper market for which I can't get to and I've tried and read everything. If I am upstairs by one of the gates and look across I can see the quest Icom but no way to acciss the area. Is there something else for which I've got to do? Any help would be appreciated

It took me a while to figure this out as well, and then I saw they literally told you how to do it in the quest description. 😛
The red things you need to find are little red satchel, one in cafe, one on the docks and the third is on the upper floors which you get through by going to the doorway all the way to the left of the Market area. When you walk up to the door it will give you the green A and then you can toggle with the right and left trigger to go up or down, this will get you to the top floor, go all the way to the right side where you will find a stairway down one level where you will find the satchel. Push the Search button to be able to interact with the satchels. I had to call the company to get this information but it worked!! Good luck!!
Glad you got it figured out! I just finished my first game and the whole game is filled with these very vague puzzles that make them well, puzzling! Anyway, the part that will cause this Red Jenny quest to disappear is when you miss the arrow landing in front of you in the marketplace as you are about to leave for the first time. If you don't pick up the note which a companion will point out to you before you leave, then the quest is gone. I was very happy to find out those elevators will actually take you between the floors of the market! Tricky. An elevator that actually works. Who would have thought???
I think the reliance on the search feature is overdone. It seems like all I did was go through every area pressing down every few seconds to pick up all the resources as well as look for the myriad of items that are part of the collections. But overall, I loved this game! I found the story line fascinating and when I watched some of the YouTube videos, found it does completely change events when you choose a different path! Good stuff!
Yes I found out that I could fast travel back there and complete the quest and have done so. Thanks for all the great replies and help with this one here. Now if I can just figure out how to get the one shard thats in the hinterlands on a Pylon thing for which I've yet to figure out I'd be in good shape.
