I went back to the save that is at the start of the Exalted Plains. With Solas, Varric, in my group it triggered just fine as long as i came at it from the correct direction.
Yeah, problem for me was I was way past the point of reloading my last save when I realized I should've done that. I had already saved twice and lost previous auto-saves when the thought occured to me.
