Sound keeps fading out since patch 9

Since I installedd patch 9 the sound keeps fading out, usually at the most inopportune times. Makes playing the new DLC impossible. It's onboard sound on a Windows 10 Home x64 system. Worked fine for the week preceeding the patch, so it isn't Windows 10. Transitioning to a new area will reset it temporarily, but then it will go again. I thought it was just Crestwood for a while, but now it's happening in the Deep Roads as well.

Looks like the patch fiddled with my Audio settings. Setting Audio to Headphones ( even though I'm using Stereo speakers not headphones) seems to have solved the issue.

I spoke too soon. The issue returned. Whatever audio I set the game to after a while the sound will fade out again. Occasionally it comes back but only for a very short time. It has definately only started occurring since Patch 9 and only with DAI.
