spoilers Dragon Age Inquisition crash to desktop on entering Eluvian

Hi all. I'm suffering a reliable bug which I've so far been unable to fix.

Every time I enter the Eluvian with Morrigan at the start of the "what pride hath wrought" sequence (after completing Halamshiral and Adamant), DA:I crashes to the desktop just before we're about to emerge, right at the start of the second cutscene. The first time, it crashed just after we left; now, every single time, it crashes just after the loading screen before we emerge. There's no error message and the crash is instant; a single frame of black screen, and that's it.

I'm running on a Radeon 5700 series graphics card (with the 14.11.2 beta), with 4 GB of RAM on a Windows 7.1 machine; aside from occasional DirectX crashes the game has been perfectly playable until this point. I have tried hitting Esc to skip the scene, restarting, turning off Origin and post-processing, running in windowed mode, cranking the graphics settings down, updating DirectX and Virtual C++; none of these things have worked.

This is getting really rather tedious as it means I can't progress further in the game. Anyone got any ideas?

I'm having exactly the same problem I'm running the HD 5700 too but my system has a higher spec
initially it was the DX crash
but after I down rated the graphics acceleration 'changing in game graphics options from ultra settings to high the driver stopped falling over
and begins to load the cut sceen, but its not a fix as the game then closes as you describe
This problem is happening with both of AMD's latest drivers 14.9 and 14.11 beta
It's really frustrating as you can't up date or resinstall Directx on Windows 7 as attempting to reinstall just generates a message that you 'already have the latest version'
It's literally a show stopper game progression wise

I minimized the crashing situation to a crash every 2-3hrs of gameplay. (it was 20-60mins before).
How?

Disable every tool/programm with overflay functionality like Steam, Raptr, Uplay etc or just disable the feature within these programs. This should reduce the CTDs

I just had the same issue. I did some digging, and what worked for me was to turn off antialiasing. You should give it a try.

Play in Windowed mode. Full Screen crashes.

I can confirm that works. I had all the same issues with the game crashing right after you step into the Elluvian. After switching to Windowed Fullscreen, it loaded fine and so far no more crashes.
Note: I am updated to the latest driver (14.12?) and I did update my Windows 7 to roll back the faulty driver issue: http://www.anandtech.com/show/8782/win7-driver-issues-microsoft-amd-recommend-uninstalling-kb3004394

I have the exact same issue after the Eluvian loading screen - but I'm running dual GTX 460's in SLI, so it's not just a Radeon issue.
I will try Windowed FullScreen and see if that fixes it.

Yep, changing nothing else other than setting it to Windowed Borderless, resolved the issue.

I'm on my second playthrough and getting this problem - everytime I step through the eluvian and load the cut scene I crash to desktop. I already had windowed fullscreen on when this happened, I didn't have this problem the first time I don't know why its happening now.

I can't get through my first playthrough, I switched to windowed mode and still nada. Considering how many people are having this problem...and that nothing is fixing it...I have no idea what to do. I've got the latest windows edition as of 10/15, everything is updated.
