[Steam] DA II Only Launches With Shortcut

When I press play on Steam, it opens a buggy EA app window that has a different error each time I open it. But if I open the app normally by using the shortcut, it opens just fine. Im logged in and can browse. If i press play, I am not logged in and an error code appears. If i press play with the EA app already open, instead of using the window that is already open, it opens a new one and shows errors. Why wouldn't it just use the window thats already open and logged in?
I have already tried uninstalling and re-installing the app. How do I play DA2???

    @shadowdemon009 Can you reply with the following:

    Have you repaired the game in Steam?

    Have you repaired the game in the EA app?

    Are the app, Steam, and the game all on the same drive?

    Have you cleared the cache?

    Have you reinstalled both platforms and or the game as well?
