Still Waters Glitch Help Please!

I'm stuck on the Still Waters quest where it says that I need to help Crestwood kill the undead.  I tried wondering around all over to find one and just letting my group stand at the spot for a long time and no undead are showing up.  This isn't a little bug.  There is a lot of game that I need to access under that water.  Is there anyway to skip right to the mayor or to finding the dam release?  I really don't want to restart when I have invested 35+ hours to this character!

  • If you can't get the mayor to talk about the dam initially, one possible way around it is to go on and capture the keep and find the locked dam door without talking to him, you should then get a quest to go speak to the mayor about the locked door. Not sure if that will work if your game is bugged, but I have done it that way in the past just because I felt like not doing things in the same old order. 😛

All the undead you need to kill are the ones with the Wardens and, the ones at the New Crestwood Gates. Then talk to mayor, and other people in New Crestwood. There are two other quest there. Capture fort, drain lake, kill stuff, close rift, go back to crestwood, kill more stuff, do a couple of fetch quest, set a camp, Zone done.

  • I had killed all of them and taken the fortress.  It just kept saying I hadn't killed them all and still needed to help defend Crestwood.  I think it is some glitch with Dorian and him using his magic to turn the dead into allie spirits or whatever.  For some reason it made it that the game didn't register the undead as defeated?  At least that's all I can think.  I was able to find the door to the cave after taking the fortress and that worked to go ahead and advance the quest.

Dorian's spirit mark can be annoying. If you have Trespasser, there's an alternate upgrade to it that makes it less so, I think. I can stop things from registering as 'dead' until the spirit dies (if you keep the mark in Dorian's action bar, you can make him dismiss any spirits by activating it). Alternatively, you can just disable it in his tactics.

Anyway, glad my workaround helped. 🙂
