Now I am just a fellow gamer and am only speaking from my viewpoint....
DAI has prominent gay characters in Sera and Dorian. It has straight and homosexual romances, to go along with cross race/species romances such as elven, dwarven and Qunari. It has a transgender/cross dressing(depending on your view of Iron Bulls second in command) character. So pretty much right now it is pretty diverse already, and all are pretty good characters.
As long as they work on the art style and character looks, so everything is the best it can be, I can't see the issue. As long as they continue the trend of interesting characters, I personally couldn't give a rat's behind. The only time I have an issue is when they put in diversity just to have it, such as ME3 shuttle pilot whose name I can never remember.
So my personal opinion is make them great characters and well blended into the story, and rest is all fine how they want it.

yes that's the point of the whole conversation, although I don't consider sexuality diversity.
I'd like to think an actual qunari spy being accepted into a chantry driven inquisition is more of an example of diversity.
