Hey @WinterKnightems
At this point we really know very little about the next Dragon Age instalment. I understand that fans want the game to be as best as possible and are worried about its every aspect, especially the storyline, which has always been extremely important for Dragon Age players.
I believe we can have a very interesting discussion here, but please remember to stick to our forum rules and keep it game-related. We really don't need to debate about someone's political views.
That being said, I'm curious what's your ideas on bringing back this heavy, dark fantasy "flavour" that Origins had in the new instalment? How would you develop some storylines introduced in the previous games?

He, OP clearly never played as city elf or any of the dwarf origins. Those origin stories were really political. I especially liked the noble dwarf one where your brother gets you exiled by political intrigue. That was so well done!
He also seems to have missed out on a Leliana or Zevran romance. Sad!
For me both DA2 and DAI did have the dark fantasy flavor btw. All the stuff with your family and Varric's family in the 2nd game was grim. For DAI I can never forget In Hushed Whispers. Dark! I think it's the music that gives it that final twist that makes it unforgettable to me.

I just completed a dwarf noble playthrough and
Spoilerstill picked Bhelen over Harrowmont because he has more realistic long term goals with regards to trade. It was pretty difficult not to switch sides at the very last moment, however. That would be poetic justice. 🙂 - 7 years ago
I actually have played those in origins. They were in game politics that drove the story. Completely different from force feeding real world politics into the game just to have them.
In hushed whispers was like fluffy snow bunny stuff compared to origins. Like being able to betray your best friend side with the main antagonist marry his daughter and execute
your friend so you can become king. Make a deal with a demon that you can exchange the life of a child for sex with her. Hunting down the woman who had your child through coercing you into doing a dark ritual to save your life then gut her like a fish.
Or did you not do the deep roads part where they tell you how the dark spawn kills male dwarfs and captures females to * and torture and turn into giant blobs that birth darkspawn.
This is just a little of the horribly dark things from DAO that DA2 and DAi can not come close to.

oh man how would I go about making it a dark fantasy again?
You pose such a great question. I think I could go on for days describing what I would do, but Ill try to keep it short.
I'm taking the overall theme is that Solas is battling the dreadwolf and if your actions turn solas to the dread wolf he tears open the veil
if they turn him towards solas then the world is saved.
I'd like to think that Solas is way too powerful for the inquisitor and friends to try and take him out. Having the inquisition having to choose to
side with evil tevinter mages that have their own desires and goals perhaps even being led by the architect who could be far worse than corypheus.
Have choices that really matter. I remember in one of the conferences from 2013 a dev speaking about world states and saying there are like 9x10 to the 21st world states
more world states than there are grains of sand on all the beaches in the world... well that was a lie wasn't it. 90% of the choices you made in origins and da2 meant nothing.
Like i killed zevran in origins but i still got his war table mission in inquisition.
I had Connor stay possessed and the "dreamer" from 2 get possessed, yet nothing happened with that. Let's throw them in DA4 and make those choices really come back to haunt
the inquisitor. Perhaps have them team up and have taken over a major city in tevinter and have had all the people killed and turned into abominations. Have The Dread Wolf use them for his whim. Give the option to make "The Warden" and Hawke pay for letting them be possessed.
I don't want to keep going ( Well I do but it'd be too long.) jeez so many options to Make Dragon Age Great Again O.o
