Tomb of Fairel Quest bug

Hey, i have the problem that, when lighting the torches for one of the five tombs in the hissing sands, i used the veilfire torch from nearby because i didn't have a mage with me.

After accidentally doing the torch-igniting in the wrong order, the guardians appeared, but when i killed them the veilfire torches didn't get extinguished, so now i can't do it in the good order to open the tomb. Hope you can help, thanks.

Another thing to try is to see if there's a corrupted autosave in your game save directory whose date seems to mirror the first occurence of the bug.  If so, dry deleting it.

I'm on PC having the same issue as well.  I'm going to try the one solution of killing everything I can within the area, but I just wanted to let you know I had the same issue, and wonder if there had been any solutions so far.

Update - Killing everything did not work; nor did deleting most of my saves (except the most current one in Skyhold) going back to before I entered the Hissing Wastes

I am still seeing this issue. PC, windows 7. The door in the canyon tomb will not open and all 4 torches remain lit. I have tried all suggestion in the thread and nothing has changed.

  • My girlfriend is having the same issue on her PS4. Nothing has fixed it yet either. I had done the quest on my PS4 and everything worked out no problem, didn't glitch at all. She hates me a little, lol. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
  • Ok, if clearing out creeps and leaving combat is a fix then here is the next issue at hand: The neutral monsters spawning seem to be experiancing Fall damage, randomly taking damage while walking / running around. I notice that on the minimap something suddenly turns red while walking around / standing in the tomb. I go up to kill it, run down again, but vailfire still burning and i cannot open the tomb... Now i tried loading a save from 20 hours earlier in the game, and it worked as long as i didnt spawn the guardians. I do NOT want to play 20 hours of the same savefile, picking all the same options in chat, quest, killing etc. so i would be pleased if this could be fixed.

    Possible fixes:

    Reduce spawn rate

    fix the random damage

dont path creatures to close to the tomb (mine is the 4 pillar tomb)

Add an option to unlight touches manually in the game - veilfire can be unlit by waterfalls, maybe let a spell "freeze" the fire, or just hit a switch to unlight them - be creative.

the easy fix is to say: go back 20 hours, but i dont want that. ☹️
