trespasser dlc keeps freezing on the loading screen after the second eluvian

Hi,

I've been trying to finish up the DLCs of Inquisition so I can move on to Veilguard. I just started trespasser today after finishing jaws of hakkon and the descent without any issues. I haven't had any issues with trespasser up until now but suddenly when I try to enter the second eluvian in the storyline, my game freezes on the loading screen (it'll show the card loading screen but then freezes after it goes to black). I've tried all the common fixes I could find online (alt+tab, windowed mode, changing all my settings to low graphics, turning off vsync, turning off dragon age online connection, trying to run in clean boot) and I don't have the 60fps fix or any mods so neither of those are the issue.

I am playing on PC and not using a controller. Attaching dxdiag

  • Okay, I THINK I may have resolved this so in case someone comes across this in the future - I ended up fixing it by uninstalling and reinstalling the game completely. This caused another error where the Patch version was wrong (not sure why since I've never used mods) so I had to go into Program Files > EA Games > Dragon Age Inquisition > Update > Patch and then opening the package.mft file and incrementing the version +1 (mine was 12 so I incremented to 13)

The first comment on this reddit thread was helpful cause they've linked an application for viewing Patch numbers on your save files

    Edit Holger1405: Removed external link.

Did you tried to repair the game?

(EA app: My Collection > Click on the three dots on the game cover > Repair)
(Steam: Game Library > Right-click the game > Properties > Local Files > Verify integrity of game files.)

Yes, I've tried repairing the game twice now and it did not work. I've also tried reloading from a save before The Crossroads area and that did not work either.

    Thanks for the solution!

You can check the patch number with On-board Resources by opening the "package.mft" file with a text editor.
