Trespasser: Infinite Loading Screen after Eluvian

Upon stepping through the eluvian after speaking with Leliana I am presented with a loading screen that does not end. I understand that I should be at the party/tarot card selection here but I never get that far. I simply get a black screen. This seems to be a common problem but none of the solutions I've found elsewhere in this forum help me. I have tried:

- playing the game in a window, in windowed mode

- using the lowest graphical settings

- toggling vsync on/off

- playing the game without a controller

- changing my outfit to the winter palace default

- running the game in compatibility mode

- running the game as an administrator

- removing all of my mods, repairing the game, and then running the mod manger again to create a patch (for save-game compatibility)

I never used the framerate fix.

PC specs:

Haswell i5 4690k @ 4.2ghz

8gb RAM

Nvidia 980ti with latest drivers

I cannot progress past the eluvian and, at this point, I'm at a loss.

Try a reverse framerate fix by capping the game to 30 frames per second.

    • Right click Dragon Age Inquisition in Origin and go to 'Game Properties'.
    • Go to 'Advanced Launch Options'
    • Paste this as command line argument: -GameTime.MaxSimFps 30 -GameTime.ForceSimRate 30+
    • See if this works. Don't forget to remove this from the command line afterwards.

If that doesn't work, upload your save file (with mods uninstalled) and I'll walk through the Eluvian. I'll save the game and send it back to you and hopefully it will load on your end. You can find the saves in Documents - BioWare - Dragon Age Inquisition - Save. If you upload a save, you'll need the latest save file and 'ProfileOptions'.

  • Fred_vdp,

thanks mate. I'll give that a shot. I got so frustrated with DAI that I completely stopped playing and every time I thought about or was reminded about the game I got angry.

  • I can't test the fix because Origin is stuck in offline mode. I tell yah, for the past five years I literally cannot catch a break with Origin / EA. It's funny, too. Back in '07 / '08 I used to rave about how good Origin's customer service was. Now? For the past five years not one of the games I've attempted to play through Origin has worked the way it's supposed to. The client itself is finicky, often updating incorrectly and forcing me to uninstall it completely and then reinstall... which, itself, didn't work for nearly six months. And now it's stuck offline, a problem that I am honestly too tired and frustrated to bother putting the effort into fixing.

Been playing my (BioWare) games through EA/Origin ever since it went live.  Don't have any of the problems others report. Worked for me under Vista, Win8, Win8.1 and now working fine under Win10.  Whatever your issue, it ain't the OS.

[EDIT: Yeah, I get tired of the frequent waits while Origin updates itself, but otherwise, not a problem.]
