I can confidently say that despite these reassurances that he is on the ground somewhere nearby...this is a bug and needs to be addressed. Anyone trying to be helpful and explain this away please stop. You have not spent the last half hour to an hour of your life scouring this area. He is not there for those of us that encountered this bug.
