Unable to finish The Mercenary Fortress

I recently decided to go back and mop up the last few quest I had remaining in the Hinterlands, one being The Mercenary Fortress. I enter the purple quest area ring thing and as I get close to the Grand Forest Villa I get a comment from party members about hte fake Mercenaries, but when I enter the area it is completely unpopulated, save for a random Venatori patrol near the water. The quest never updates and it continues to say 'Find the Mercenary Fortress'. Anyone found a workaround for this bug?

Also I should add that I've tried reloading a previous save just befor eentering the area and even from before porting out to the Hinterlands and I have approached from multiple directions.

If I remember correctly, the reward for completing this mission is the ability to gain access to Valammar. If you've done Varric's personal quest, you already have access, making this quest unnecessary. The real issue is that it remains in your quest log when it no longer should be there.

It is not the reward. That is a completely different quest.

Still not solved. This is my 2nd playthrough and now I'm stuck with this bug.

And it won't ever be, unless the Community develops a fix.
DAI itself was released in Nov 2014, and the last patch for it (Patch 11) was released in Oct 2015. There has been ZERO work by the studio on the game since.
Nor is there ever likely to be.
In my experience, a year's worth of post-release (or post-last DLC) direct studio developers' work is par for the course in the AAA game world, and even less at other levels of game production. If it's not addressed in that time-frame...

This is an old thread that's been inactive for over 5 years, I am going to lock it to prevent more necro-posting.

As said before, the last patch for DAI was released in 2015, there is no fix coming from Bioware.
Some bugs will never be fixed, not in this game and not in any other big RPG. That's just the way it is.

You can look at Nexus or other mod sources if the community fixed this issue.
