Find the Originsetup file on disc 1 in the D:\Autorun\Origin folder, not the Setup file in the main directory and double click that bad boy. For me it said that I would be installing an older version of Origin. I said Ok. After it reinstalled Origin, I put the install disc back in and hit autorun, then clicked the continue button. It opened Origin and logged me in and proceeded with the install from the disc.
Hope that works for you. Looks like there may be multiple ways to fix it from the answers on this thread.
Thanks. After much looking, your suggestion was the one that worked for me
.
Make sure origin is on drive. C and install the game on another drive.
For some reason Origin loves to be on C drive

I am majorly pissed. I have tried every single solution multiple times and nothing works! I'm using Windows 7 and Origin is on the C drive.
I couldn't even download the game instead of installing from my disks if I wanted to. When I click on the download button, I get the same error message -your download has been paused!!! Yet my download queue is empty!
I've tried copying the files manually as suggested, but I still get that darn error message. Won't anyone at EA fix this major bug?!

Ah nothing like some amazing DRM from EA everyone's favorite game company. I was finally able to install from the PHYSICAL COPY I purchased from a store, but it required me uninstalling Origin(AKA trash DRM) and reinstalling it. Then the magical program to make sure people are not stealing their game(lol?), will install from disc. It's okay I'm sure that with this amazing DRM, none of those naughty pirates will ever be able to make illegal copies of your products. Why as a loyal customer I am thrilled that you put me through extra trouble to stop them. Im sure that if I go to google and search for "insert game name" torrent, I won't find a single copy of this game there. Excellent work EA!

Had ZERO problem installing from disc simply by disabling my network card before starting the install.
(Not just unplugging the ethernet cable, but going into Network Connections and "Disabling" the interface.)
No network, no downloading. Turned the network card back on and "Activated" the game through my Origin account after the install was complete. 😕mileywink:
