I know that it's always been like that that the longer you wait, the cheaper it gets. But if we all did that then EA would be royally screwed because if we all waited until the GOTY Edition was out and on sale for 5 Bucks then I think this game would be called a massive flop because it's sales would drop to 5 or 6 units. I don't see why that has to be the case instead of offering an upgrade. I don't mind paying 15 Bucks for it or so (price of one of the DLC's) but besides waiting my only option is to spend the exact same amount the whole game cost again to get either the GOTY edition or get buy all the stuff included in it. That isn't right.
With a price strategy like that EA shouldn't be surprised that the pirates went all out to crack their DRM (which they finally managed with DA:I). 65 Bucks for anybody who ordered the normal version and 55 Buck for anybody who ordered the deluxe version is beyond usury... that's almost robbery and it's a big screw you to anybody who bought the game because they support Bioware and a are fans of the franchise. It's basically EA telling us to go screw ourselves if we are stupid enough to ever buy any of their stuff on release and not wait at least 3 years before buying the stuff.
On the other hand who are we kidding? 5!!! Years after it's release the Dragon Age Ultimate Edition on Origin still costs 20 Bucks! If I don't suffer from Alzheimers this game used to be even free at some point, a month before Inquisition released. So why doesn't it stay that way? Again I felt screwed over. I had bought the game myself, I had also bought Dragon Age 2 and pre-ordered DA:I so why don't I get something? The Mass Effect trilogy is sold for 40 Bucks. 40!!! Bucks? Mass effect one is 8 years old. Mass Effect 2 5 years and Mass Effect 3 3 years, it doesn't include all the DLC (why would it?) and it's 40 Bucks. The Sales Origin offers are mostly a bad joke compared to the stuff Steam offers even for big publishers on a regular basis.
To summarize then. Had I waited 5 years I could have gotten DA:O for free. I bet if the next DA comes out in 2 years or so I will get DA2 for free. So had I waited 10 years I could have gotten both for free and by that time in 2 years maybe DA: I GOTY will only cost 10 or 15 Bucks. So by waiting 10 years I could have gotten 3 games for the price of 15 Bucks? That's grand, really grand. I mean... seriously? This is what EA is telling me? Don't buy our *? Wait 10 years so it doesn't cost more than a single DLC to buy 3 games?
I'm not asking for whatever fancy stuff. I'm asking that my investment be honoured and I and others like be me granted the possibility to upgrade to GOTY for 10-15 Bucks. For all I care make the offer last only one week or one day if there is a fear or losing money. I think everybody who is interested would manage to click the buy me button during that time. But anything else is just greedy and mistreatment of customers who didn't pirate and invested in the believe that they would be well treated because they invested first.
I am deeply saddened, that a Digital Deluxe to GOTY Edition upgrade seems to be out of the question.
As a long time supporter of the entire Dragon Age Series and all its additional content; I was actually happy to invest in the Inquisitor's Collector Edition that was offered thru Gamestop. Its is extremely disappointing that even my edition of the game has been regulated to a simple digital deluxe edition.
I guess Dragon Age: Inquisition will be the first of the Dragon Age Series that I will not be a full supporter.
And as too the previous posts on this topic, waiting until Game of the Year Editions are released seems more than an viable option for me for any future releases from EA.
Really disappointing though was actually looking forward to the new Mass Effect which I have also been a long timer supporter of and all additional content.
