UPS beeps constantly while playing.

I used to have BSOD issues with this game, but I managed to fix some of them; however, I just bought a new UPS and since then I have played multiple games with no issues. Yet, when I open up DAI, I get one long beep from the UPS right before the main menu, and a constant beep from the UPS when I load up a save game and start playing.

Any ideas as to what my UPS is trying to tell me?

  • You may want to just try plugging your Tower only into the backup.  That is a fairly low end battery backup, that isn't really designed to have a whole bunch of power being pulled through it.

As far as how it will do being plugged directly into the wall, well mine is that way now, I used to have UPS but the good ones are expensive and I don't have the spare cash to replace so yeah it will work.  But then again, the power grid in my area is fairly stable, and the outages and brownouts are few and far between.  So it depends on the condition of your power grid for your home.  If you have lots of outages and worse yet brownouts(that half lit when power is sorta still on but not really) then you really need to have an UPS to prevent all sorts of issues.  If you are in a stable area, then most likely you can get by without it...just turn off for storms and such..

Just to let you know, that UPS is only good for about 2-5 min backup...anything longer and it will shut down, which makes it about useless for anything other than giving you a second to shut your system down if you are right there, and to cut down on spikes or flicker outages causing issues.

  • Universal Power supply??Ie battery Backup??

You will have to consult your manual on it to be sure or check the website.  I thought it usually meant it was overloaded...ie trying to draw too much power through it, which may or may not be your issue.

If it is, then you didn't get a big enough powersupply for all you have plugged into it.

Well, it's a CyberPower 425va/255 W battery backup, and my PSU is a Thermaltake Black Widow 850 W. On top of that I run it with an Nvidia GTX 780 and an Intel i-7 2600k. My monitor and speaker system is also connected with it.

I have never researched UPS', so I am not sure if they are supposed to match your PSU power or not. Seeing as it's mainly a battery backup, wouldn't it just push the current through?

Also, until I look into a new one, would it be fine to plug the PC cable into the wall?
