Weird graphical effects on Grass in DA:I on PC

Hi,

I am running DA:I on an Acer Predator Triton 500 (NVIDIA 2080 max q). I got DA:I through Origin a few months ago and played it without issues, but coming back to it now a few months later I am seeing crazy texture issues on grass and other elements. It looks like some kind of aliasing, but none of the alias graphic settings seem to help.

Any idea what this is and what causes it? I have tried reverting to an older NVIDIA driver and have also tested an external monitor.

I made a screen capture of it and posted on Reddit here:

Thanks for any advice!

  • To me it looks like the game engine rendering of clouds and sun moving across the grass.  If you look in the background you can see the same light and darkening effect on both the mountains and the tower, as clouds move in the sky.

Now maybe I am just missing it....I did grow up during the Atari 2600 days and to me all new graphics look awesome, even those that people say is junk.....

  • I don't see the issue. I see cloud shadows on the grass. Isn't that intended behavior?

Cloud shadows have been a feature in these games since Dragon Age 2.

  • Maybe that video didn't fully capture it - take a look at this one:

(Make sure to set playback to 1080p, it might default lower).

    Here's a screenshot, as well:

See how there is almost a kind of gridline effect over the grass?

I definitely don't think it's normal - I played this for 3 hours when I first got it, and also played on PS4 for 25ish hours and never noticed this (and you'd think any graphical artifacts would be worse on the PS4 version). But so far I have not found this happening in any other games, so I don't think it's a PC/graphics card issue.

Anyway, thanks for any other thoughts!
