If you're talking about the retail disc, PC version, then the base game's product code is printed on the back cover of the User's Manual at the top of the page.
The "Additional Content Packs" (al the DLC) have a different code, which is printed on a separate insert (about the size of a single page from the User's Manual.)
The base game code is 20-characters, five blocks of four. The DLC code is 16-characters, four blocks of four.
(NOTE: On the insert in my retail package it says that the DLC code expired on July 30, 2011.)
All of the digital download versions (Steam, Origin, etc.) had a separate email or other on-line communication that included the code(s).
My base game code is also 16-characters, four blocks of four. Any idea on what I should do? The installation still asks for a 20 character code.

@athr3n;
You need "official" support from the EA Game Advisors. They're the only ones who can look under the covers at your account to do anything about this.
As the NOTICE at the top-right of every forum says:

For any account maintenance, persona assistance or code related queries, please Contact Us using the Help Center.
---------------------------------------------------
You have a code issue.
After getting to the Help Center and filling out the required information, (Product/Problem/Platform)
look for the "Chat Now", "Call Now", or "Email Now" buttons, not the AHQ "Ask Now" one. (You've already done that!)
The options you see may vary depending on your region and the time-of-day.
If you select "Chat Now" or "Call Now", be sure you have enough time (at least one hour) to wait before being connected to someone. 😕mileyfrustrated:
Good Luck!
