Also the game seems to contredict with itsemf. I constantly hear in the game regarding mage healers, menders, healing and so on. It starts to make an impression that healing magic was simply cut out for some reason.
I couldn't agree more on OP's opinion about the battles being a "mosh pit". The fights are too chaotic. The max camera height is too low and too buggy for the tactical view and since the AI sucks, I have to micro-manage all my characters in every encounter. I'm actually fine with controling every action of my every characters if the interface was better but it's very annoying to do without the ability to see what the hell is actually going on thanks to the messy battles and a camera that pretty much lets you see no more than 2 square feet of the battle at any point in time!
If I could queue orders for my characters (I still don't know if it's possible or not) or somehow tell varric not to bull charge into my AoE every time I'm busy with someone else, that would have been great!
I may be doing something wrong but my characters easily break formations I carefully set before a fight and just get themselves killed when I'm not controlling them.
