disregard this, i figured out the problem, part of the installer got burried under the other windows i have open and i didn't notice. although i still would like to know why origin thinks i have the digital deluxe version when i in fact have the dvd deluxe version.

I had a problem installing my copy of DAI from DVD too, maybe this helps:
I had Origin installed on my D:\ drive. I uninstalled it and then started the Autorun.exe on the DAI installation disc.
It then starts to install Origin. I used the standard installation folder C:\Program Files\Origin\.
After updating and loging in the installation of DAI started FROM THE DVD!

Dumbest thing ever, but yes, this worked for me too. It *defaulted* to C:\Program Files (x86)\Origins and then wouldn't install. When I manually set it to c:\Program Files\Origins it started installing.
Thanks for the tip!
No thanks to the most apathetic programmers in the industry at EA.
