[Workaround] NVIDIA driver crashes and the infamous White Screen

I was able to prevent the game from crashing every few minutes yesterday. This might not work for everyone but at least you should try it. Follow these steps:

1. Start the game.

2. Open the graphics options in the main menu.

3. Set Post Processing Quality (and Post Process Antialiasing) to Low or Medium.

4. Restart the game.

5. Play the game without frustrating crashes.

In case you can't even reach the main menu try the following:

1. Download Notepad++

2. Go to C:\Users\[personal folder]\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age Inquisition\Save and open ProfileOptions_profile with Notepad++

3. Search for GstRender.AntiAliasingPost and GstRender.PostProcessQuality and set the values for both entries to 1.

English isn't my native language. Please excuse any mistakes. It's also possible the names of the stated graphics option are wrong because I play DA:I in German and I just directly translated them.

It works for a friend of mine, too. He suffered the same issues and confirmed that the Post Processing option change was the only thing necessary to fix the crashes.

In the comment section of this video I made is another confirmation (first comment) for my workaround to work. It's in German though. The person has a GTX 660 and driver version 344.75, too.

I couldn't test your fix as of yet but I'm positive, since the description in the startpost perfectly mirrors the kind of freeze I experienced. Cutscene with dialogue choices --> whitescreen.
Also, for everyone who thinks this will diminish their graphical quality: According to a report from the german website gamestar.de there is no visual difference between post processing settings from "low" to "ultra", at least none you can see.
So if this really works (will add confirmation later when I've played a bit more) there is virtually no downside to it.

Data Point: This workaround does NOT work for me. I've lowered the two settings to Low/Off, but I still cannot get past the end of the Here Lies the Abyss final cutscene without crashing. I also have a GTX 660 with the 344.80 driver, and it consistently crashes after this mission's closing cut scene.

The 344.80 isn't an official driver or is it? Can't find it at Nvidia.com...

I also turned post processing to medium. I have been playing now for over 10 hours with no crashes in cutscenes nor the war room. Some of the cutscenes happened in rapid succession that probably totalled nearly 20 minutes or more.

There is no Nvidia-Driver 344.80 i guess he just wanted to write something.. nvm.
About this Workaround, i actually tested it and it doesnt work, its pretty much the same as if u put it on ultra.
Sometimes u can play a day in a row without crashes and sometimes u get an crash after some minutes.
U can say its a Workaround if it solve ur problem and u can only say that, if u atleast tested it more than just 1 or 2 days (with more than 3-4 hours in a row).
As i and many many others said, those crashes are random based (random time).
But thanks for trying to help.
