Okay, update. I contacted support again just to see if it's being worked on at all and support said that a lot of people have come forward about this issue and they're looking into it so hopefully that means we will see a fix in the near future!

Same error, except mine started after the EA subscription expired in Steam, and I was playing the game through Game Pass, not Steam. I may have started the game through Steam months ago but since I reinstalled just used Game Pass.
This needs to be fixed, is the second time I lose almost 50 hours of progress due to a EA Desktop (or whatever it is) error.
