Xbox Game Pass PC/EA Desktop: Unable to load Save, Missing DLCs

1. A detailed description of your issue.

I was playing Dragon Age Inquisition with the available DLCs on EA Desktop through the EA Play  with Game Pass PC subscription (Around 50 hours of play). Unfortunately, my game pass subscription expired. i renewed it and went on to play Inquisition again but it gave the error message "Unable to load save data as required downloadable content is missing. please download the content again. <Followed by a list of all the DLC>"

2. Your system.
a. Game Pass for PC Subscription

b. Dragon Age: Inquisition and all its DLCs installed and played through EA Desktop app.

3. Steps that you have already taken, if any.

a. I googled the issue and found this is a very common issue with this game, especially using it with EA pass on Steam or GamePass. However, the solution to fix it is either through Origin or Steam, which are not applicable when this problem arises on Game Pass + EA Desktop app.

b. I also created a case and had chats with 2 separate EA Help people for 3 hours and but none of their suggestions worked.  Below are all the suggestions which i implemented but didn't work:

1. Uninstall, then reinstall the game and DLCs

2. Sign out of EA Desktop and Game Pass and/or restart PC and then re-login

3. Clear cache of EA Desktop and Origin

4. Make sure Account is logged in-game.

5. Verify whether same account between EA desktop and Game Pass PC is linked (I have same email for both and verified account linking).

6. Uninstall game, EA Desktop, then

"""Hold down the Windows Key and press X.Click Command Prompt (Admin). When the command prompt opens, type ipconfig/flushdns and press Enter.Type ipconfig /registerdns and press Enter.Type ipconfig /release and press Enter.Type ipconfig /renew and press Enter.Type netsh winsock reset and press Enter.Reboot your computer"""

In case of any suggestions for fix, Please note again that a) this is with Game Pass for PC, so Origin cannot be used, b) Fixes specific to Steam(like deletion of redundant steam game) cannot be used here and c) i can play other EA play games like Tropico 6 and Battlefield 5 fine (so not likely an account linking problem).

New poster here. Hit the exact isssue. Suddenly DLCs are not installed, even though they are installed. Coincidentally my last save was also just over 68 hours, and now I can't load any of them. Playing through EA Desktop (EA Play with Xbox Game Pass). Tried all the fixes, no dice.

Literally the exact problem I've described here: https://answers.ea.com/t5/Dragon-Age-Inquisition/Xbox-Game-Pass-for-PC-DA-I-says-I-m-missing-DLC-I-definitely/td-p/10788355

EA has not fixed it, and probably never will. HOWEVER some players and I have discovered a fix that by using an older version of the ProfileOptions file located in

    %userprofile%\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age Inquisition\Save

    your saves will load again

I have a copy of the file, and I'm in the EA Gaming Discord if you want to get in touch with me.

Managed to find that post and file in the other thread, can confirm it fixes the issue but locks you out of Multiplayer and Dragon Keep. Works fine if you are just playing the campaign, as I am.

Fair enough @EdgeUK. Def did not test that. Honestly had no interest in MP (not why I play DA games). For sure backup that file before you replace it in case EA ever fix this (lol).

I'm pretty sure it's all because a flaw in the EA Desktop app. And support doesn't know what they are talking about because there's no communication between them and EA Desktop devs. -_-

When a game asks Origin/EA Desktop which DLCs you own it usually sends a "group". And Origin/EA Desktop is supposed to return just the DLCs in that group. And EA Desktop just dumps everything you own. -_-

I have confirmed this is an issue with Need For Speed: Most wanted and probably the same happens with The Sims 3. And this thread sounds like the same stuff too.
  • Okay, so I had the same problem, and I came to a solution, but it's a little janky. You need to go here [Link removed, potential Terms of Service violation - Admin.] which is a DAI save editor, and download the .rar file. Extract it, then boot up DAI and create a brand new save. Get through the intro stuff to the first autosave, then close the game. Next, open up the DAI save editor, and import the save you were playing originally before this issue came up (DAI save data should be located at C:\Users\User\Documents\BioWare\Dragon Age Inquisition\Save) (the second User will be your PC profile name, say jamesd or whatever). Then, change absolutely nothing in the information that pops up in the DAI save editor. Instead, immediately save the information that pops up to that same folder, and make the name of the item you are saving the exact same name as the file you created at the start of this process. Your computer will ask if you want to overwrite it, and you should say yes. Then, once it has saved, boot up DAI and go to the new character profile that was made when you restarted the game. Load that save, and it should import all the data from your dead save and allow you to continue playing as normal. Whenever you play, you will have to go through the new character name, but it should be your save.

  • @Fibonci ea support deleted your link, can you dm me on discord or maybe make a video tutorial you describe it really weirdly
