PC Crashes every time I launch Dragon Age: The Veilguard

Begging for help here. I’ve been waiting ten years for this game, and I’m unable to play it.

Downloaded the game on Thursday. Played all night Thursday night. On Friday, I decided that the graphics weren’t what I wanted, so I was going to update my GPU and CPU. Ever since, I’ve been unable to play. Every time I launch the game, it crashes my whole PC. The farthest I’ve gotten was to the companion preview, then shutdown. Here’s all I’ve done to try and fix this:

- upgraded PSU
- upgraded cooling system (max temp during launch was 69C)
- updated drivers
- updated windows
- updated BIOS
- flashed BIOS
- turned on Secure Boot
- uninstalled and reinstalled the game
- verified files through steam
- launched in windowed mode

PSU is MSI 850w
GPU is Radeon RX6750 XT
CPU is Ryzen 9 5900X

I just don’t know what else to do. I just want to play the game. I’ve seen a couple other people having this issue, but haven’t seen anyone able to help. If anyone has any suggestions, they’re greatly appreciated!!

  • Wanted to update everyone- after my 8th trip to Micro Center, we discovered that the new CPU I had was defective. I have a new one and it works perfectly. No more issues, and I’m playing now on ultra! Thank you to everyone who offered assistance.

  • Got an update too.

Don't know if there is a problem with my motherboard or an another manip but I can finally play without crash or freeze with all setting at the maximum (excepts RT who is at selectif like I was talling Friday) at 1440p.

I saw there is an update for my Bios who was dated from this weekend, so I install it.
But before doing this update I delete all shaders cache from the game and from the folder "SteamLibrary/steamapps/shadercache" and I verify the file with Steam.

Just after my bios update I played 3 hour without crash.

Don't really know if it was a problem with the Bios or it's just deleting all shaders caches files (steam and the games) help with it ^^"

So I'm glad to finally play.

Hoping for those who can't play yet EA will update the game soon.

Hey @Sophila9 @Balzemuth Big thanks to both of you for updating us!

Glad to hear you were able to get your CPU replaced @Sophila9

The team is continuing to work on improvements with Veilguard, but as Sophila was our OP and managed to get their issue fixed, going to make their post as the solution.
