Character Creator is Broken

Can't get past character creator with customization and it doesn't even work when you exit. When I get to the character creation screen, I see heads with no body. After restarting and continuing to drop my settings to enhance performance (I'm on a high quality gaming laptop) I still see floating heads. So, I figured I'd just guess, use a preset, and hope to change the customization later. After hours, I finally hit the button to begin the game.... and it crashed. Please help! I'm such a huge dragon age fan but I have such a limited time to play that's being taken up by trying to get the game to work!
