Metacritic-users playing on PC gives this game 2.5 of 10 - so not having made a solution yet comes at a cost. I am a big fan of the Dragon Age series, and of Bioware and remember that when "Dragon Age: Inquisition" came I had a lot of issues as well. It seems like the game is made mainly for those with a PS5 or a really strong gaming computer. I still play the game - the subtitles don't crackle - but the sound issues greatly reduce my overall experience.
A good game seems to me partially ruined by an unsolved technical issue, and if I manage to play through the game before some solution is available, my conclusion will be that new Dragon Age-games should never be bought too early - and it is still too early for the Veilguard.

Not to defend anyone here, but I was playing on an old laptop i7 with a 2070 and 16 GB RAM, and I didn't have any sound problems until I switched to a desktop 7800X3D with a 4070 Ti Super and 32 GB RAM. The quality of the system is definitely not a factor in whether this problem occurs (from what I've seen on this thread, it seems like higher quality PCs have more issues with this game).
But yeah, it's still pretty ridiculous that this didn't come up in testing and that it's been languishing this long with so little visible engagement from the team. As someone who's really enjoying the game, it's disappointing to see the poor feedback and low ratings.
