Yeah, I've done two playthroughs (finishing the second up today), and this crackling audio occurred in both fairly regularly. It was particularly bad in Minrathous and Arlathan. I'm someone who likes to record romance or interesting lore banters, so I have evidence of how awful the crackling could get. I had to fiddle around with the graphic settings just to get it comfortably running on my machine anyway, and it made no difference. And I'm good at keeping my drivers and Windows up to date.
