Objective Tracker Visibility option not working

No matter which setting I set this too, it remains permanently stuck on screen. It still flashes when I press the pulse button, like it should when set to pulse, but then doesn't disappear.

  • So, after a bit of testing I've come to the realization that there is a bit of a misunderstanding caused by a lack of detail in the option descriptions. They actually ARE separate options. The Objective "Tracker" is for the on screen description of your current quest under the mini map. The Objective "Marker" is for the diamond shaped symbol that shows where to go next. My original post was in reference to the MARKER not the TRACKER, and I had not actually been changing the correct option for what I wanted.

For anyone seeing this I have found the issue - for some reason there are TWO areas where you can configure objective marker visibility.  Both in the "interface" section of the settings, and also the "gameplay" section.  Turn it off in both places and it will work.

Turn it off in both places and it will work.

What's funny is that this actually occurred to me but I dismissed it, because there's no way a AAA studio could possibly screw up something as simple as ensuring that settings that appear in more than one menu change together. Lolololol.

I found that I also had to use the ping function once or twice, after which the marker disappeared until the next ping. So if you changed your setting in both locations but you still see a marker when you shouldn't, try pinging it.

Edit: Spoke too soon. Now it's back to always showing again. A+ programming.

Thank you, I hadn't realized about the other option in "Gameplay". I've discovered they do actually do different things and have detailed that in a different reply.

yup came here to report this as well.  The objective tracking on the screen is far too big and i just want it gone.  Glad there's an option for it - but it doesnt work.  It worked briefly, then when I went through a loading area it reappeared and now won't go away.

FYI, if at any point you try to use the "Pulse" settings for the marker and find it doesn't turn off when not pinged, the new thread for that is here. (It does sound though like you've just entirely disabled it, which seems to be working as intended.)

I did just turn it off, yeah. I normally don't mind waypoint markers, but this one's a bit much. Also, I feel it's a little redundant since the mini map also shows the direction ofbthe next objective.

Same issue. I thought I had it resolved, but now it's stuck on again. Previously it seemed like pinging made it go away after the ping timer, but that's not working this time.

I found out my issue was that I just wasn't changing the correct option, but i haven't yet encountered it messing up again after changing the right one. If it's still staying stuck on screen even with the correct option switched off then that's definitely a problem.

You should please unmark this as a solution so EA is aware it doesn't actually solve it for most people. With mine set to pulse only, the marker still shows up.

Edit: Okay, as mentioned elsewhere, now mine is somehow working after toggling the settings off and on again. We'll see if it sticks (IIRC, previously it worked for a short while and then went back to being just stuck on permanently). Thanks regardless for figuring out that they're settings for two different things, albeit extremely poorly explained in-game and inexplicably in two different menus.

Following up: Yes, you need to unmark this as a solution. At this point, my marker isn't permanently stuck on yet, but it's already popping up repeatedly when I move without me having pinged it. So this problem is definitely not caused by confusion between the two settings. The setting just isn't doing what it's supposed to do. (FWIW, it seems to be the Marker that's the problem, not the Tracker. The Tracker is only showing up when pinged, as it's set to do. The Marker is the one that keeps showing up even when not pinged.)

At this point I think it would be better to open a new forum thread with a better worded original topic. By the wording of my original post, my problem HAS been solved, as the solution to my issue was simply not changing the correct option, and my marker has been behaving correctly since.
