Stuck On "Press Any Button"

Issue: Unable to get past the "Press Any Button" start screen.

I am able to mouse click my way through the various start screens till I get to the "Press Any Button" prompt to start the game.  The app seems to recognize my various button press by the playing of a whooshing sound on keyup events, so the app has the ability to recognize the button presses. 

 If I press and hold the any keyboard key, mouse button, or controller button/trigger, nothing will happen till I release the key/button/trigger, at witch the audio whooshing sound will trigger.

Note: I also had the shader crash issue.

It has been a very long time since I have ever had this many issues with playing a game, let alone even starting one.
