Won't Let Me Delete Saves/Override Saves Not Working

At first the game stopped autosaving about 20 minutes into the game which was fine as I started just making more saves. BUT then I tried to start deleting the several saves I made, and it would just make another save instead. There is only a limit to 100 saves per character so I will not be able to complete the game in just 100 saves. I have tried deleting the saves from the game files directly but when I load the game back up, they just come back. I am playing Veilguard on Steam.
