Hi @MindlessProton,
You can close down the EA app fully by clicking on the 3 stripes on the top left and choosing "Exit". Another way to fully close the app is by using ALT+F4.
I understand that's not what you're looking for, but I just wanted to highlight some workarounds 🙂
I'll be sure to keep monitoring this thread for feedback to see if other community members feel the same.
Yeah, and I can turn off my monitor by unplugging it from the wall but that doesn't mean you should remove the power button.
Has a year and a half of watching this thread taught EA anything? Obviously, we all feel the same.
In 1995 the 'Close' button was added to the Windows operating system. It joined the already existing 'Minimise' and 'Maximise' buttons and believe it or not, these buttons are supposed to have unique functions.
While I am aware that EA is an extraordinarily incompetent company in many ways, making the 'Close' button minimise the launcher (and thus making it harder for users to close your software) when for 3 decades even the most simplistic people and programs have had no difficulty understanding and using the button as intended, is extremely difficult to see as anything but malicious.
Everybody already hates this launcher for a variety of great reasons, but it's especially infuriating when EA deliberately makes it worse for the user.
Every other application I've used that has been prickish enough to make 'X' minimise instead of close (by default) has always had an option allowing users to change it. If EA won't outright fix the problem, then for God's sake put in a setting that lets people choose. When in doubt, toggles are the answer to everything.
But of course, this is assuming that EA isn't already completely aware of what they're doing, and it seems beyond a reasonable doubt that they are aware and simply continue to do it anyway.
