DO NOT INSTALL EA APP IF YOU HAVE ORIGIN CLOUD SAVES!

i have lost 5 years worth of saves thanks to upgrading to this stupid app. At no point prior to install does it tell you you will lose access to the cloud saves (see attachment). I thought it was a regular update and clicks accept. Now everything that I hadn't backed up prior is gone.

Yes, yes I know back up yo sh*te but if you're going to force people to upgrade you should let them know that it wipes anything related to Origin that relied on the cloud to access, even though it said everything will sync the first time you open it. bull. Saves & achievements (which why aren't these linked to out actual EA accounts?!?) gone.

Then customer service informs me they have no way to access said cloud device to make zips to even email the files to us for a manual reinstall. At least give us the chance to reinstall Origin and grab our files. I tried that from an old Origin installer and it's locked out completely with the same upgrade to EA app. Its locked and you can't click on anything & the whole screen is covered with the same upgrade prompt. Just ARGH!

I have warned you so the same thing doesn't happen to you ☹️

    Hey @Vhardamis your saves should still be there, I have all my cloud saves int eh EA app going back to the day they became available.

    Are you sure that you had your saves in the cloud?

  • Same for me. Says Cloud storage full, but doesn't load cloud files instead says to create new local ones. how do i download the cloud files back to my PC?

  • Uninstall the EA app, reinstall Origin.

    Open it up once and then close it.

    Browse to C:\ProgramData\Origin, open local.xml and add this:
    <Setting value="true" key="MigrationDisabled" type="1"/>

    <Setting key="UpdateURL" value="http://ea.cope/" type="10"/>

    <Setting key="AutoPatchGlobal" value="false" type="1"/>

    <Setting key="AutoUpdate" value="false" type="1"/>

    before the </Settings> tag.

    Redo it if Origin overwrites the file or you could try setting it to read-only.

    This should provide you with a temporary workaround, where you can continue using Origin, until EA has fixed the problem on their end.

    found the cloud files. i was just looking in the wrong place. however that being said, the 1GB limit means i only have so many.

  • absolutely positive. My last local save file was 2019. Everything since then had been cloud saves as i was playing on 2 PCs.
