EA App doubles game size everytime it updates a game
It turns out that EA App is in fact cloning every game file in your game folder when it updates a game.
This will lead to lots of strange behaviour should you not have the disk space. EA does not tell you this anywhere and every minimum spec EA lists for a game must be doubled for you to play the game as most games is forced to be updated in order to keep working.
The next time you update a game just go to the game folder and you wil suddenly find that each game file has a EAPATCHBFI file, EAPATCHDIFF file and DiP_Staged file as well, and size just doubled.
People who have enough space wont notice that EA App that keeps burning your write cycles on your SSD because they decided to have the worst patching mechanism in history.
People who dont have the space will ahve failed patching and repairing with noe idea why it failed. It's not like it always says: Not enought disk space. Often it just hangs forever or give other error messages.
The workaround: Reinstall game. (yes, re-download 80-150GB and burn more write cycles), delete other content or buy bigger disk.
Some people says doing app recovery helps but I just got it right after doing that. lol.
At first I thought it was only Jedi Survivor but after seeing the same happening in Battlfield 2042 its not a game issue but launcher issue.
I'm not reporting this as a bug as its clear by design. Why else would the app do this if it wasnt coded to do it.
So my feedback is simple: change the way you patch game that do not require people to have twice the required minimum spec for hd space for games installed!
When updating a game @3DiE9djua2 it often is that you will need double the game install size free on your hard drive in order for it to complete.
