EA App will replace Origin. Please don't, let us choose.

Hey EA, I just want to keep using Origin because the EA App is missing important features (in-game FPS Counter, Origin Points, an in-game overlay to see achievements, etc.) [📷Pic 1, OriginOverlayEa, scroll to the right] .

Also because Origin works flawlessly on all my machines: in the new one (16gb ram, i5 12600k, rtx 3060ti 8gb vram) & in the old one (8gb ram, i7 7700k, rx 570 4gb vram), unlike the EA App that's very laggy & slow when I start it in ALL my machines. The "My games" section takes some secs to load, plus multiple other minor issues that add up; like 10-hour trials not working in some games, the app not remembering my password (having to log in every single time), or the app not allowing you to log in with your username like Origin does, so you have to write your whole email (with so many PC launchers out there I keep forgiving the email I assigned each, same username across all accounts tho so it's easier that way), etc. [📷Pic 2, ORIGINvEAPP]

I bought all my games in Origin from 2019-2021 & there's a lot of people that did this, so we shouldn't be forced to leave our platform of choice if you take into account the new platform lacks important features. I've been noticing this behavior in the company since the EA Desktop was released in 2020. Like when EA Play was included in Xbox GamePass & it only recognized your subscription if you used the EA App, but it didn't if you used Origin. Technically it should work with Origin too, but it didn't because "EA PLAY via Gamepass" owners were forced like Guinea Pigs so you get feedback for the Beta test of the EA App that ended some months ago.

So, is there any way for people like me to keep using Origin? At least you should implement the missing features on the EA App before completely replacing Origin.

Thanks.

Oh & I don't want to sound disrespectful, but before you say: "We will send your feedback to the team", take into account that I've been sending feedback & posting my issues in this site since day 1, however it seems my feedback was never taken into account because nothing changed. Of course, I'm just a gamer who uses the launcher daily, so why should I know better than Ea suits, right?

Ea Play games in the Xbox Gamepass (PC) should give players Xbox Achievements - Answer HQ

The new app is also missing the option to choose your own home screen. Now your forced to load the clutter fest of a home screen filled with info no one cares about. In my collection you cant hide all games that is not installed and is forced to have at least the first row showing. Why do I need to see games I dont currently want to play? And there are no sorting feature making it a chore to look through your collection.
You cant resize icon without resizing everything and even if you do resize the app doesnt remember this at next launch. So you have to resize every time you launch the app.
The default size for icon is too big and makes everything feel very cluttered. And this is one of the biggest issues with EA app. You took something that was bad in Origin and made it worse.
Theres also no friends list customization so you cant decide how to be notified about things, you cant detach the friends list if you want to have only that on visible and you minimize it.

Launching a game minimizes EA app and takes the friends list with it. So sending messages to players not in game just got a bit more annoying. Also games have issues launching with ea app and that includes new games like battlefield 2042. Very often you are just told that "an error on our end prevents the game to launch". Sometimes it works, sometimes you have to repair the game for it to work. Sometimes you have to reinstall EA app to make games work. In settings you no longer can decide whether to participate in EA's data mining.
So how you can take this mess out of beta and plan to force it upon players is the big question. In short you took something bad (Origin) and made something even worse (EA app). And then you are going to force players to go from bad to worse.

  • My EA anticheat was working fine on origin but now when using the EA Desktop App it says "Failure during update process" I swear Fifa is so badly optimized for pc i give up giving this stupid company my money

  • What you fail to understand is EA doesnt care what you want or think, they do what pleases them. But keep giving them your money and theyll keep creating the same game over and over, while forcing you to play it on a crap app. Im not installing that app, I was perfectly fine with origin, and since there isnt any games I care to play, it doesnt matter anymore. Sad to say I care not for Madden 23 even though I have that, 22, 20, installed. I wont be buying 24, Im done as a customer and a consumer. 2K games are where its at, if you want to play basketball, or baseball.. Leave EA alone, theyve gotten enough of your cash, give it to some other company hell bent on putting out a real authentic experiences without needing to put it on a stupid app.

    1. To be sure uninstall everything (i used revo uninstaller to clean uninstall all junk)
    2. Restart pc
    3. Install any origin
    4. Change date in your windows ( i put 9 january)
    5. open origin login and do everything ( it shouldn't pop the ducking EA horsedung app notif)
    6. Then if you want to play games on steam go to game directory to delete 3 files😞 5.1 cleanup 5.2 EAappInstaller 5.3Touchup
    7. Now you can still use Origin like it used to before..Start game and try, Hit me up on steam if it worked for you. https://steamcommunity.com/id/deadniu/"
  • I have been playing The Sims since day one and Origin is the only launcher I can honestly say has been enjoyable to use. It's easy to maneuver around and all the information we need is right at our fingertips. When a new expansion comes out I purchase one for me and one for my Granddaughter; there isn't even an option to purchase as a gift anymore. This may seem rather unimportant to others but it is very important to me, although that is only one of the things I find lacking. I'm sure we will "get used" to it but I don't feel we should have to. I'm sure a lot of us, if not most of us, have been playing for awhile and know what we prefer. Please let us make that decision on our own.

I have been forced to update Origin to this new package, which I can only describe as complete garbage.

If this was a piece of hardware or software foisted onto me, I would at the very least wish to have some recourse to fixing the problems. Instead people are forced to vent about this on forums such as this.

"quote  : For over 10 years we’ve welcomed millions of players into our Origin platform, we’ve listened to your feedback and acknowledge the limitations of this platform in a quickly evolving entertainment landscape."

What complete nonsense, EA have clearly not listened and if they had, they would have a completely working client. Instead they have something that sort of works.

My issues stem from the fact that I could always launch games from a shortcut on my desktop, now I can't.

This along with the fact that you want to play off line games already installed and it flatly refuses to launch the games.

Other problems are that despite uninstalling reinstalling the damned App carries on telling me I have no space for game saves on line and asks do I want to use the local content. Reply yes and it then says I need admin rights to play the game.

This happens every time I start the game up, annoying to say the least.

Origin on the other hand worked flawlessly with no problems, so how can EA programmers screw up so badly, when producing a client that has had a tried and tested system working for years, to base their new client upon.
