This is working as designed.
In order to fully close the EA app, please click in the top-left corner on the Hamburger menu, followed by Exit.

@EA_Leeuw So is this issue going to be fixed, or no? My only gripe with Steam is that they don't have that feature, so here's your chance to finally do something better than them for once in two decades.
Also, Steam doesn't make my computer run like a one-legged horse because it doesn't have to upload data to the mothership constantly. It would be nice if the EA App didn't do that, but in lieu of fixing the actual problem, having the option to auto-close would be lovely.
