Link2EA for Linux

It's now 2023. Steam has proven that virtually any game can run on Linux, with little or no effort on the part of the game developers.  I am longing to play Mass Effect again, but now that I'm running Linux Mint I am confronted with this Link2EA window that doesn't even render, never-mind allowing me to log into my EA account. From what I've seen while searching for a functional fix, EA has actively refused to present any kind of help. In fact, it would seem that EA is actively getting in the way of providing any kind of help.

Surely it can't be that hard. Surely you have a plethora of developers on hand who are more than familiar with how to build a simple Link2EA for Linux. Surely the "expense" for providing for the Linux crowd doesn't outweigh the profits of selling games to the Linux crowd. Paradox Interactive has it figured out. Firaxis Games has it figured out. Bethesda... might not have it figured out completely, but they don't actively get in the way. Ubisoft works. Even friggin Microsoft works. It can't be that hard. I can even play Sim City 4!

An answer that isn't "We have no plans to make the game work for paying customers (Linux users) at this time" would be really great.

  • Sorry to disappoint you @CptnOblvs but there is no information that I can share in relation to any Linixu support for the EA app.

I will pass your feedback on to the team.
