Close the Launcher on clicking "X" and don't minimize it option

So i just downloaded the EA-Launcher and upon hitting the "X" in the top right i saw that the launcher did not actually close but minimized itself into my system tray. So i went into my settings and looked for the option to change that setting (which btw. every other launcher i used so far has), but i could not find it. After googling to see if the option is maybe at a different spot in the launcher i quickly found this thread

https://answers.ea.com/t5/Feedback/Allow-us-to-fully-close-program-on-quot-X-quot-out/td-p/10995498/page/5

which was started in November 2021 with the second comment being from an EA-community-manager describing a workaround (no solution) and claims to quote: "[...] keep monitoring this thread for feedback to see if other community members feel the same." quote end and people commenting on the hread complaining about the very same problem in total 5 pages of comments, the thread was closed in June 2023 by another EA-community-manager stating and i quote again:

"As this thread is a bit old at this point, things have changed and been updated, we are going to lock this down so that we can prevent any necro-posting. This feedback has been sent over to the team as a request to be looked into.

If you run into any further issues please create a new thread so that we can begin tracking accordingly!" quote end.

So my question is why does the problem just get ignored for over 2.5 years eventhough it was said the thread would be monitored and then just gets closed down with the reasoning of the thread being old at this point and that things have been changed and been updated (which they have not in this case)?

Disclaimer: this is not my first language so i don't know the proper quotation rules and i hope you can ignor any grammar or spelling mistakes.

    I second this.

Not that it will do any good, since the feedback clearly went up the chain and fell on deaf ears.
It's obviously the intended behavior, hoping most people won't notice it in the system tray so you guys can keep harvesting our data against our will even after we're done playing.

If this is assessment is incorrect, you can easily prove us wrong by implementing the damn feature already.
Every single one of your competitors, even the worst ones, allow this. Not to mention IT SHOULD BE THE DEFAULT BEHAVIOR.
The top of the window ALREADY HAS a "minimize to system tray" button with a "-" sign. If we wanted to minimize to system tray, we would click that instead !
You just broke the X button, replaced it with a redundant button we already had, and did not include the standard feature of being able to restore its functionality from your menus.
    It's straight up malicious design.

Ignoring the original post and the hundreds of reactions it got for two and a half years before closing it and broadcasting the fact you received the feedback and elected to maliciously ignore it is a bad look. It's a very minor problem, but it's a very big deal as an implicit declaration of your intentions.

  • Agreed.

This is atrocious. There HAS to be an option to make the app CLOSE when you hit X and not just minimize to system tray. EA please do something about this. You are falling behind every other app out there, not a good look. I suspect EA doesn't care much though considering how many times this has been brought up and requested and.... nothing.

  • @Apocalypto2097 I saw the other thread you mentioned. The fact that EA has been ignoring this for now close to 3 years shows me they don't care about us.

Which means I no longer care about them. They lost me as a customer. Good thing there are other ways to start their games that don't involve their stupid app.
